Mungo Homes Foundation Announces Week of Giving
Mungo Homes, the parent company of Shugart Homes, is making a difference in the local community with its first Week of Giving from December 6th – 10th. The recipient, the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina, was pleased to receive a check for $11,000 on December 7, 2021 from The Mungo Homes Foundation Advisory Board. The check was presented in conjunction with Mungo/Shugart team members who were performing volunteer hours to sort and box food for Second Harvest Food Bank.
‘Tis the season for giving, and organizations like The Mungo Homes Foundation of Mungo Homes are doing their part to help local agencies assist those in need. The Mungo Homes Foundation was established in 2021 with the sole mission of improving the communities in which Mungo Homes builds by providing economic, educational, health, housing, and emergency hardship support for events such as natural disasters. A portion of the proceeds from each home sold is contributed to the Foundation and is invested in the local community of that home.
“We have a vision of wanting to leave the world better than we found it,” said Steven W. Mungo, CEO, Mungo Homes. “Helping those less fortunate is a really big step in that direction. We can make all the money in the world and it doesn’t make any difference if we don’t give it back.”
The gift will advance Second Harvest Food Bank’s mission of providing essential food assistance through a network of partners, while educating and engaging surrounding communities about the elimination of hunger and its causes.
