With more than 35 years of building experience, Disney Construction Co. has grown from humble beginnings - first building backdrops and displays for High Point’s furniture market, then farm buildings, and later their first family home in Oak Ridge, N.C. - to become a trusted custom home builder in the Triad area. A sense of community
Disney Construction Co. primarily focuses on Northwest Guilford County, in the Oak Ridge, Summerfield, and Stokesdale areas. Currently, they are building in the North Ridge, Birkhaven, Berrier Ridge, their newest subdivision in 2019, Belews Ridge, and Pleasant Oaks. A sense of community is one of the benefits of living in these neighborhoods, says Patti Disney. “Our housing market is driven by the wonderful school districts in Northwest Guilford, and therefore there are a lot of young families moving out to the area,” she says. “Our neighborhoods offer larger lots (typically 40,000 square feet, or just under an acre) for kids to run around in the yard, great schools, and wonderful neighborhood feel.”
In addition to building in subdivisions, Disney Construction is always happy to build on their clients’ property, whether in a neighborhood or rural setting.
The custom home advantage
Working with a custom home builder offers plenty of benefits. With a custom home, you’re not restricted to what the builder chooses for your home; Disney Construction provides their clients a list of allowances for items they can select in their home. The homeowner can choose the colors, products, and styles that fit their family’s needs.
“We have great relationships with all our different suppliers, who can assist the client in this sometimes-overwhelming process by offering great design perspective and also being conscious of the homeowner’s budget,” says Patti.
Custom builders pride themselves in customer service. “Building a home is like having a six- to eight-month relationship with someone,” says Patti. “It’s important that the client has a level of trust and clean lines of communication to be able to have peace of mind that the build will be completed up to their expectations.”
Working with a custom builder also affords you the opportunity to be involved by doing walk-throughs during construction, asking questions, taking photos, and getting a better understanding of how and why things are done.
“We’re there for the homeowner along the way to assist in every aspect of the project,” says Patti.
Looking ahead
The future for Disney Construction looks bright, with Francis and Patti Disney supporting their son Mark and his wife, Jennifer, as they carry the company into the next generation. “We have been given the Triad Business Journal Family Business Award 2019,” Patti adds.
Mark has worked with Disney Construction for 18 years, with the last eight years being full-time. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Appalachian State University. He follows his father’s footsteps in community and civic volunteerism, and served as president of the Greater Greensboro Builders Association in 2018. He is also a recipient of Triad Business Journal 40 Under Forty Business Leaders in 2018.
Mark is excited to lead the company in keeping up with the latest design trends and technologies, and will continue to uphold the strong reputation Disney Construction has built over the last 35 years. He and Jennifer have just welcomed to the family their third daughter. Who knows… maybe the next generation will be led by one of these three beautiful girls!
