Greensboro Builders Association Presents Awards

The Greensboro Builders Association presented the following awards during the Housing Forecast in February.

 Eugene Gulledge Award

The Eugene Gulledge Award for Distinguished Service, the highest honor given by the Greensboro Builders Association, is named in honor of Eugene Gulledge who founded GBA 53 years ago. The award recognizes continuous, outstanding contributions.

Gary Hill of Tradition Homes received the award in recognition of his more than 30 years experience in the building industry as a very engaged and active member. He has served as GBA President; TREBIC chairman; NAHB National Life Director; and currently as President-elect of the NC Home Builders Association.

Builder Member of the Year Award

Jim Sandknop of South Star Builders, 2011 Builder Member of the Year, has been an active member for many years, serving on the GBA Board of Directors and Executive Committee the past five years. In 2011, he championed GBA’s community service initiative at Peacehaven Community Farm while also serving as an Ambassador and Builders Council chair.

Lewis Award

Rich & Kathy Dumas of R & K Custom Homes received the Lewis Award for utilizing the most association members in home construction in the 2011 Parade of Homes.

 

 

 

Kavanagh Cup Award

Since 1995, GBA has presented the Kavanagh Cup, named in honor of Roger Kavanagh, a pioneer in the affordable housing movement in Guilford County and a past president. This award recognizes individuals, companies and/or organizations for efforts in strengthening affordable housing in Guilford County. Wade Jurney Homes received the award for being foremost among builders who have answered the clarion call for affordable homes in the Triad. Wade Jurney was among the first to recognize the need for affordable housing and subsequently worked to add quality to affordability in spec homes in Triad communities. Stephanie Miller accepted the award on Jurney’s behalf. 

 

Membership Recruiter of the Year

Robert Millican of Millican Construction was presented the 2011 Membership Recruiter of the Year award for recruiting the most new members in 2011.
