D.R. Horton Announces Express Homes Brand -
Triad first-time homebuyers celebrate!

The expansion of D.R. Horton Triad into the first-time homebuyer market with its Express Homes brand is exciting news for first-time homebuyers.

Previously available only in other markets, Express Homes fills a niche, which is of growing importance in the real estate market. A number of factors have conspired over the past few years to squeeze out the first-time homebuyer from affordable housing.

Just as the mortgage market began to loosen, home prices have spiraled out of reach for buyers purchasing their first home. Many have resorted to renting rather than owning a home, but the American Dream of home ownership has not died. This is especially true as newlyweds begin to think of building their future together and owning a home with a yard rather living in rental housing.

With its focus on value and quality, D.R. Horton has come to the rescue with the announcement of the availability of the Express Homes brand. Value means you are getting the most home for the dollar; quality means you’ll have a home that is not only comfortable to live in, but has built-in value for the day when you are ready to move up to a larger home. Express Homes, as the name implies, can accommodate a quick move-in in many cases. More importantly, however, is the value that is inherent in these homes. The primary focus is to deliver maximum square footage for the minimum price. This is particularly attractive to the growing family that needs the extra space. The extra square footage to accommodate the additional bedroom (or two), more living area or a larger kitchen can be more important to a growing family than special crown molding or soaring ceilings. Express homes include attractive amenities, and, if the home is under construction, the buyer can make certain selections like carpet, vinyl, or hardwood floor coverings.

D.R .Horton is America’s largest homebuilder and was the Triad’s busiest homebuilder in 2015 (Triad Busness Journal). With 423 home closings last year they surpassed their nearest competitor by 42%! The company has achieved this status by its commitment to providing quality homes at a great home value. By virtue of its size, the company wields incredible buying power which enables it to pass these savings on to the homebuyer. It is also able to acquire some of the best properties in the Triad area, which means they likely have a new home community going up somewhere near where you want to be. Over its 35 years in business, D.R. Horton has developed a reputation for solid value in their new homes. They develop cutting edge floorplans and designs that speak to America’s changing lifestyle patterns. The quality of their homes led to the launch of their luxury home brand some years ago. Emerald Homes, a D.R. Horton company, combines luxury with functionality. These elegant homes provide upgraded amenities and finish features.

Ben Lunnen, City Manager of the Triad Division, when announcing the addition of Express Homes said “We are so excited to add the Express brand to our Triad portfolio. The availability of affordable homes in the Triad has shrunk significantly over the years. Express Homes will provide our company the ability to offer attractive new homes to the first-time homebuyer …the homebuyer that has been shut out of the new home buying opportunity in recent years.”

New Communities Announced:
Several new communities under D.R. Horton and Express Homes have been announced for 2016.

Regent Homes, which was acquired by D.R. Horton in 2012, will be rebranded as Express Homes. This includes seven communities from Whitset on the east end of the Triad to Winston-Salem on the west end.

With home prices starting from the low $100s, the expanded product line with Express homes will make these popular communities some of the hottest properties in the Triad.

The American Dream
In many instances, potential homebuyers that thought the American Dream of home ownership was out of reach have become proud homeowners. Elizabeth Ward, Sales Manager for D.R. Horton’s Triad Division, says,“Our focus everyday is to wake up and change someone’s life by helping them make a dream come true. We are elated that we can do this now in almost every price range!”

For more information on any of the 15, and counting, D.R. Horton communites in the Triad see the "Neighborhood" ads for these communities on this website.
